Football is more than a game. It’s the feeling on the stands, in the locker room, and on the gravel pitch behind the school. It’s where we laugh, struggle, and grow together. But the words we use can decide whether someone feels welcome—or walks away. When hate takes space, the game stops.
Research shows that 51% of young LGBTQI people avoid gyms and sports facilities due to fear of exclusion, and many drop out of sports for the same reasons. This reduces representation in athletics and increases risks of mental ill-health and loneliness.
Through this campaign and an accompanying education initiative for clubs and coaches, we’re helping build a football culture where everyone feels included—on the pitch, in the locker room, and in the stands. Because when everyone gets to play, the joy and the game grow. And when we play with heart, we all win.
